Extra concert Simple Minds in Amsterdam

Yesterday, Simple Minds announced that they will be giving an extra concert in Amsterdam this year. Not only on 21 but also on 20 November, the band will be performing in Amsterdam's Heineken Music Hall.

Rembrandt's Nachtwacht returns

Today Rembrandt's Nachtwacht, probably the most famous Dutch painting in history, will return to it's old location in the completely renovated Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.

The enormous artwork has been on display in a separate wing of the museum for ten years. During this period the Rijksmuseum has been completely renovated and modernised. The new Rijksmuseum will be re-opened on 13 April by Queen Beatrix.

From 14 April the museum is opened for the public.

Amsterdam Heritage Days

Especially for the Amsterdam 2013 celebrations, four editions of Amsterdam Heritage Days will take place in Amsterdam this year. Together these events will bring to life 400 years of the city's rich history by sharing the secrets of Amsterdam's changing architecture and lifestyles.

During each event important buildings, monuments and private homes will cast open their doors to the public, all free of charge. Visitors can also enjoy guided tours inside buildings, walking and cycling tours, as well as visit exhibitions and attend lectures. There is also a dedicated junior programme and other special surprises.

The first edition takes place on Sunday 24 March. The focus is on the birth and rapid growth of Amsterdam's canals, and the 17th-century architecture, interiors and lifestyles that emerged with them.

Keukenhof to be opened 21 March

I posted this item before, but just to remind those of you who are visiting Amsterdam or La Festa in particular; Keukenhof is to be opened tomorrow! Although temperatures are very low for the time of the year, the thousands of flowers will bring spring into your mind.

Keukenhof? That’s the place to see spring blossom. The park is unique, world famous, and has been one of the most popular destinations in the Netherlands for sixty years now. Haven’t seen Keukenhof? Uitnodiging wijnproeverij

Na het succes van anderhalf jaar geleden nodigen wij u bij deze uit voor onze tweede wijnproeverij op maandag 15 april 2013 om 20 uur in Ristorante La Festa.

Onder begeleiding van onze wijnleverancier Wine's World Trading zullen er zes uitstekende Italiaanse wijnen worden geproefd. Dit zijn wijnen van zowel de wijnkaart van La Festa als daarbuiten. Ristorante La Festa verzorgt een uitgebreid assortiment bijpassende hapjes.

Na afloop van de proeverij is er de mogelijkheid om de geproefde wijnen te bestellen (per doos, maar ook per fles).
