Review at Booking.com

On 19 July we received quite a negative review on our page at Booking.com. This is the original message in Spanish:

" No limpiaron la habitacion, llegamos un viernes y el sabado solo hicieron la cama, ni limpiaron, ni hicieron el baño y el domingo nada de nada."

It says that the room has not been cleaned during their stay. They arrived Friday, Saturday only the bed was done, neither it has been cleaned nor has the bathroom  been cleaned. On Sunday nothing at all has been cleaned.

We seriously do not know how this has happened. Maybe the guests were in the room all day and we could not clean it, maybe there was another reason. We do not know.  We just want to emphasize that we do thoroughly clean our rooms on a daily basis during your stay. Towels are changed on request and bed linen is changed every three days. Apparently this went wrong with these guests.

The famous Amsterdam gay canal parade is coming up from 5 to 7 August.  The highlight of the Amsterdam Gay Pride weekend is the famous Canal Parade on Saturday  afternoon. Where most parades use trucks, Amsterdam has boats! 75 spectacular decorated boats with beautiful boys and girls will sail from 14:00 till 18:00 through the Prinsengracht and Amstel river. The gay parade is watched by 500.000 spectators every year.

Stop the presses

There's still news coming from Trouw (Wibautstraat 127, www.trouwamsterdam.nl ), a temporary restaurant and club in a former newspaper printing warehouse in east Amsterdam, but these days the news has more to do with cocktails, cuisine and art. The place is now a sleek backdrop for a young crowd who read their news on iPads. On summer evenings the terrace is packed with late-night revelers.

Photo exhibition Anton Corbijn

World-famous photgrapher Anton Corbijn has an exibition in FOAM Amsterdam (Keizersgracht 609) from 24 June to 1 September 2011.

Anton Corbijn once declared his interest in portraying the pain of creation and the people who struggle with that process. Foam proudly presents Anton Corbijn's latest photographic series devoted to some of the most renowned artists of today.

Uniting an austerity principle with an aesthetic one, these black and white prints strike us both for their precision in capturing the geniality of the portrayed - in sometimes humorous, sometimes intriguing situations -, as well as for their thoughtfulness.

In a quiet but striking manner, these apparently perfect and yet spontaneous shots resume the drama involved in the act of creation and leave room for interpretation. As epitomes of an unselfish, strongly individual and lonely strive, these photos reveal Corbijn´s affectionate and attentive look and his sense of amazement and identification towards others.
